Case study of powder metallurgical material processing - CBN tooling for oil distribution discs



The oil distribution plate, in the hydraulic motor or pump, plays the role of high and low oil distribution, so that the motor or pump in the role of high pressure oil output torque, low pressure oil (return oil) to stop the output torque in the plunger cavity of the high pressure oil discharge.


Powder metallurgy, the raw material used to make the oil distribution discs, has a unique porous structure that makes the processing of powder metallurgy parts more difficult.

CBN tools made by WSS machining are used for machining powder metallurgy oil distribution discs by means of turning, VC (m/min) can reach 60m/min, f (mm/rev) equals 0.03mm/rev, Ap (mm) equals 2.5mm; the machining efficiency can be increased while ensuring the quality of the machined surface.
